At ViaQuest, our Residential Services Youth Program is dedicated to providing children with high-quality psychiatric, behavioral, residential, and nursing services.
The ViaQuest Residential Services Youth Program provides services to children ages 7 to 17 who need a holistic-care approach to overcome everyday challenges that affect their independence and productivity due to developmental and mental health disabilities.
We serve children who experienced significant trauma events that may have caused them to develop coping and survival skills that make it challenging for them to live safe, productive lives in their communities.
Children with developmental and mental health disabilities face many challenges day to day that interfere with their quality of life, causing barriers that hinder their abilities and opportunities to live safely in their communities. The symptoms of their disabilities cause them to exhibit behaviors beyond their control, denying them the chance to live safely in their homes with families, attend school and enjoy childhood.
We work collaboratively with the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities— DODD, County Boards of Developmental Disabilities, Children Services, and various support systems to develop the most effective approach for servicing youths and helping them succeed in their homes, schools and communities. This unique program enables children to develop skills to build and maintain stable homes and relationships.
Many youths are sent to live in Residential Treatment Facilities for persons with mental health challenges, irrespective of age. In most cases, the available treatment facilities are located out of state and cost the state systems (DODD, CBDD and Children services) hundreds of thousands of dollars per child. In addition, being out of state, children are separated from their families, communities and familiar support networks, which affects their livelihood and overall treatment success.
The outcome of these placements was to keep the youths safe until the age of 18, and then transfer them into the ID/DD system full-time to develop a solution. This resulted in lost time, where individualized supports could have been put in place to help these youths live healthy, happy lives in their communities.
ViaQuest Residential Services Youth Program is a solution to address the challenges children with cognitive and mental health disabilities experience, to help them maintain stability and effectively manage their health needs.
We provide reliable, quality services with wrap-around support to help our individuals achieve their goals. Our method is the Circle of Care. We take pride in having an individualized and team-focused approach to achieve effectiveness in serving our individuals. The ViaQuest Circle of Care includes Residential Services, Psychiatric and Behavioral Solutions, and Nursing Services.
At ViaQuest, we strongly believe that every individual should have the opportunity to live in the comfort of his/her home and community. Furthermore, we believe that the success of the individuals we serve is highly dependent on the stability of their living arrangements. Our first residential behavioral health services rule is to make houses homes. We recognize that a home is more than just a structure; it assures ownership and gives comfort to those who live in it. Thus, every youth home is fully equipped to be as conducive as possible to meet the child’s individual-specific living needs.
Our homes are staffed with dedicated direct support professionals, a home manager and a program manager who are adequately trained to understand and provide the needs of the individual served. Our professional team of caregivers assists individuals and develops meaningful activities for home and community engagements while ensuring their safety.
The ViaQuest Psychiatric & Behavioral Solutions (VPBS) is a significant component of the Circle of Care that addresses the mental health of the youths we serve to help them maintain stability and live productive lives in their communities. All individuals have access to various VPBS services, including a psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner, mental health counselors, and case managers. Each home is assigned a therapist, behavioral specialist and psychiatric nurse practitioner, all of whom work closely with the Residential Services professionals to provide holistic care that addresses the needs of the individuals served.
Our registered nurses (RN) and licensed vocational nurses (LVN) work with our residential service providers and psychiatric and behavioral solutions to provide the best quality care to every individual we serve. Our nurses include trained mental health nurses who ensure the effective management of psychotropic medications and staff training to ensure the accurate administration of medications. Our nurses provide medication education to empower service recipients with knowledge of their prescribed medication regimen. Our nursing team conducts state-required medication administration trainings for all residential services staff, empowering direct service providers with the skills needed to administer and manage medications for the youths we serve safely.
